About Marilyn

Marilyn Ashcraft

Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft was elected to the Alameda City Council in November 2012.

Before being elected to the City Council, Marilyn spent 16 years in community service and leadership roles in Alameda. She served as a member of the Planning Board, as an Economic Development Commissioner, and as a Hospital Director. She’s volunteered in our schools, and co-chaired successful campaigns to build the Main Library and keep Alameda Hospital open.

In six years as a Planning Board Member, including two years as Board President, Marilyn helped stimulate economic growth and bring high quality jobs and sustainable development to Alameda.

On the Hospital Board, she worked to support patients, improve healthcare services, and achieve a balanced budget.

In her work as a professional arbitrator, Marilyn helps opposing individuals and businesses resolve disputes. This experience will help Marilyn bring people together and achieve results at City Hall.

As your City Council Member, Marilyn is working to create good jobs and housing opportunities, achieve a sustainable budget, protect our environment, promote ethical city government, and ensure Alameda remains a vibrant, livable community.

Marilyn has spent most of her life in Alameda. Marilyn and her husband Howard Ashcraft are the proud parents of 25 year-old twins, Claire and Cole, who were raised in Alameda.
